Age of Voting survey

Your voice matters.

We want to hear what you have to say about the voting age.

When I’ve been speaking with young people recently, I ask them what the most important issues to them are and how they would like to be involved in resolving them. A common request has been the right to vote.

If 16-year-olds can work, drive and pay taxes – should they be able to vote?

Climate change, renewable energy, human rights affect us all and what we decide today impacts young people’s future – should they be able to have a say?

Would you like to choose whether you vote or not in each election or referendum, until it becomes mandatory at age 18?

This survey has 6 questions and will take you less than 5 minutes.

There are no right or wrong answers we are just asking for your opinion. If you need help, ask a parent, guardian or other trusted adult for assistance – especially if you are 10 years or younger.

What happens to what you tell me?

I won’t ask your name or collect any information that could be used to identify you. You will remain anonymous.

Three of the questions we ask give us an idea about you and what region you live in. Your answers will remain confidential and we will not share your details with anyone.

When the survey closes in late September, I will collect everyone’s feedback and publish a report that will help government and other organisations understand what it is that you want them to know.

Thank you for sharing your views.
