Commissioner for Children and Young People WA Acknowledgement of Country Project
Youth Week WA 2025 is being celebrated from 10-17 April, with the theme 'Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment'.
The theme reflects young people’s connection to the community and each other.
As an advocate for all children and young people across WA, the Commissioner would like an Acknowledgement of Country that reflects their voices.
Children and young people are invited to showcase their talent and creativity through words and/or drawings to share their respect for Traditional Custodians and the continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples to Country, land and waters.
The Commissioner and her team will choose and combine selected entries to create an acknowledgement that will be used going forward by the organisation.
This is an opportunity for young people to reflect on their own thoughts, do some research and maybe even start a conversation to create something that represents their connection to community and each other.
The Commissioner encourages everyone to be sincere and welcomes creativity. Children and young people can voice their acknowledgment through words and/or drawings.
Entry is free and open to all WA children and young people aged up to 17 years. Entries close 9am Wednesday, 14 May 2025.
All submissions will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $50 kids/teen voucher.
