New child and parent centre to provide vital support
Today I attended the official opening of the Child and Parent Centre at Neerabup Primary School in Banksia Grove, hosted by Hon Colin Barnett, Premier of Western Australia.
This centre is one of 16 centres announced by the State Government that will provide support to families with children from birth to eight years.
It was a pleasure to see so many people in attendance, supporting the new integrated facility that will offer crucial health, education and parenting services for babies, young children and their parents.
Early childhood remains a priority area of work for my office.
From before birth through early childhood, a child’s physical, social and psychological development sets the foundation for their health and wellbeing in childhood and adult life.
Given the importance of early childhood, and the role parents play in their child’s early health and wellbeing, I am very pleased to see these service hubs begin operation in communities across the State.
