Calling for Expressions of Interest for 2016 advisory committees

The Commissioner for Children and Young People is calling for Expressions of Interest from existing groups of children and young people who would like to be one of her 2016 advisory committees.

The Commissioner appoints advisory committees from metropolitan Perth and regional WA each year to assist her to hear the views of a broad range of children and young people.

In 2016 the advisory committees will be involved in a project on the subject: keeping children engaged in education.

Activities the advisory committee will undertake include participating in a workshop to provide their views on what prevents and helps children and young people continue their education, and helping to design a consultation for other children and young people.

Advisory committees may also contribute to other areas of the Commissioner’s work in 2016 if time permits during the year.

Any existing group of ten or more children and/or young people, such as a school group or class, or local government or community group, in any community throughout Western Australia is encouraged to apply.

To be a member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Committee, young people in an existing group must be under 18 years of age as of 1 January 2016.

The easy-to-complete Expression of Interest form and an information sheet for interested groups are available on the Commissioner’s website.

The EOI period closes 5pm Monday 16 November 2015.

Support and guidance regarding the Expression of Interest process is available from the Commissioner’s office by calling Darren Gillespie on 6213 2208 or email darren.gillespie@ccyp.wa.gov.au
